Our little bantam Columbia Rock hen Julia has been acting strangely for the past three days. She will bend her head a little bit to one side, look up for a moment, straighten her head, then do the same thing again a couple of seconds later. I would describe this as compulsive. Her general behavior is a bit subdued, though she still walks around her pen and seems to be eating. Before this happened, I noticed her keeping to herself and spending a lot of time standing in a secluded spot in the barn. If anyone has any idea what her problem might be, I would appreciate the information. Thanks so much.

Hard to say for sure, but it would not hurt for you to do a search on wry neck. Wry neck is treated with vitamins, so they won't hurt her but may prevent it from getting worse if that is what is developing. A key description of wry neck.... star gazing. It looks like they are peering at the sky...
Good for you for being such an observant chicken keeper!

Thanks so much, zowieyellowflame. That does sound like the behavior she's exhibiting. I'll do the Google and see what we can do for her. Thanks again! I'm brand new to the forum and appreciate the help.
