We picked up some beautiful young laying hens on the weekend but during the car ride in the crate one of them got stuck in the corner and the other hens picked on her butt until her feathers were gone and she was sore and had a bit of blood.
I separated her and cleaned her off and put her in the coop on Tuesday. Well, maybe my rooster got to her or something but now her right wing feathers are sheared right off in one spot. Almost looks like someone took scissors to them. She is really off balance now and I had to help her onto the roost last night.
Do I need to pluck them so they grow back? Her butt is healing up nicely and the other hens aren't picking on her, otherwise I will separate her again.
