Was that a spotted feather like a guinea fowl on her underside in the 1st few photos? Is that normal? Well done on being brave enough to do the op & pull it off too!

We had a guinea come with the flock so it was probably just stuck the her, we gave the guinea to my in laws who raise them and chickens and he has decided he wants to hang out with chickens instead of the guineas but he's is a very happy well taken of bird too.

Hey Fisher Mom I love to fish too and gotta tell ya I absolutely love your nails. But back to Hope we have yet to take out the stitches but she is healing nicely we upped the antibiotics on her stitches since she is outside now.

I kinda liked her in the house. She does have a lot of extra skin but I noticed yesterday it is becoming smaller tissue so I don't think it will ever look "normal" but I think her new feathers will cover up alot.l

I do believe her skin will shrink back a lot,,, look at us who have had C-sections,,,our tummies shrink back down,,and the feathers will cover up whats left,,,how long on the stitches?? I think maybe a week or so??

Update,
She is doing great today, I saw her running full tilt boogie after a bug out in the yard, so I would guess she is feeling ok

. The stitches will probably come out tomorrow, If they look as good as they do today. she and the rest of the girls gorged on a pile of fallen peaches we collected from the orchard out back, and as of this writing they are all sitting around fat, happy, and full of peaches

Well here's the morning update on Hope...I went out to let out of the coop and pen and she came out not looking her usual self, her eyes kept closing and her comb and wattles seemed not so red. So guess what she's back in the house I gave her her usual breakfast of oatmeal and antibiotics and she ate and drank plenty. I think she may overdone herself the last couple of days and needed some mommy love because she's perked up a little. However she does seem to getting some fluid in her belly gonna have DH look at her when he gets up, we may have to take out the bottom 2 stitches out and drain her and stitch her back up. Will update you all afterwards. Keep your fingers crossed for her. I really hope it is not fluid in there!

I just said a prayer for her. Hope she doesn't have an infection. She's been through so much and is still alive because of you!
