Well cleaned out the coop, nest boxes and run today and spent about an hour grinding whole corn for them for the next couple of days. I make my own mixture of feed using corn(of course), layer pellets and crumbles and a little oyster shell and then some in bowl for the girls to eat as a choice. And the new flock definitely needed it! And of course plenty of treats! We had a watermelon picnic with the kids and chickens it was a blast!

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.

It does sound like you really have your hands full with the animals, but good for you to help them. I am glad that Hope is doing better. That sounds like a very difficult situation, the surgery, but yo guys went ahead and did it, with a positive outcome. Good for you.

Take Care

Thank-you for all the condolences about my friend it was a really hard thing to go through. She was 39 has 2 twin girls age 13 and was pregnant with a little boy. Which led to a miscarriage and she died during the DNC. He was buried with his mama. But she is in Heaven looking down upon us. Thank-you all again.

Oh my gosh! I am so sorry to hear about your friend. What a horrible thing to have happened. I have been through the same procedure for the same reason and had no idea that it could have an outcome like that. Send my condolences to her husband and daughters and to you too. Wow.

So sorry for your loss.
Oh my gosh! 39 is sooo young.
I hope you take comfort that she knew how caring and loving you are.
Girlfriends know this about girlfriends.

I send my condolence for the loss of your friend. I have been reading your post and it has been a couple of days since your last post. I know you are very busy but please let us have an update on Hope and her other feathered friends.
Thank you,
K

Hope is still doing great, she is sleeping on the top roost and is back to her grouchy old self(she likes to sleep alone and she makes sure of it)

Its starting to get hard to spot her in the crowd of others, she looks so good. you find have to "lift lift the ladies skirts" to see who is hope in the coop at night. Really, I am surprised that she is doing as well as she is, I expected her to be "down" for a while but she seemed to handle this whole ordeal better than we did.

The internal stitches were done with 4lb monofilimint fishing line and the external stitches were just a roll of pink thread from the sewing kit.
