Hen with spinal injury after dog attack cant walk or stand! Is this going to be permanent?!?!

Found another wound on the buff orpington that can walk but limps its pretty nasty, and smells. I think its infected, the hydrogen peroxide was bubbling like crazy. Hopefully with me cleaning she will be able to fight off the infection. She was hiding it under her wing I only saw it when she started cleaning her feathers near it becuse she moved her wing and opened her feathers up. I should have looked over the hens myself not just cleaned the ones my sisters friend cleaned/saw. Dang I thought this hen was doing good. The dog took a chunk of skin out it dident just tear it sadly. Pics attached looks illitle worse in the pics becuse I took them while the peroxide was in it and bubbling and was in the middle of cleaning while I took them. Anyone know any better wound flushers/cleaners? Rn I'm using hydrogen peroxide and neosporin ointment.

Glad you found it before it got really bad! Peroxide is good, especially if there were/are maggots in the wound...check carefully. If you see any you need to get them out with some tweezers otherwise they will eat the good flesh too :(
If you can get some hydrogel for the wound:

I use this stuff for most wounds on chickens, rabbits etc.

UPDATE: Woohoo! 2 weeks after the dog attack, just got back from the fishing trip and I have some good news, all are still alive, and wait for it......... THE PARALIZED HEN CAN WALK, he balance is off or she just doesn't have the control to hold herself up well so she falls forward alot but I'm shure it will get better! Realy I could probably put the two brown ones with the flock but I'm going to wait a little longer for the one to grow its feathers back and the others vent to seal up or go back to normal. It had a scab over its vent that I pealed off and it was pretty healed and dident bleed but the top of its vent lip is still separated/ not filled in. The one with the big gash in its side is starting to scab up so I will probably stop cleaing it and just use neosporin. I will do one more update whenever I put them all back into the coop. I posted like 4 threads on this and I'm just going to copy and paste to each of them so if you follow more than one you don't need to read the other ones.

That is fantastic news :)
Her walking will get better with practice - good job!

I know this is years later but I was just thinking about my chickens, I gave them to a freind of my dads last summer. As Im going through high school I was losing time to take care of them, and I dident trust anyone in my family to shut them up at night and counting to make shure they were all there. I thought I updated this thread but the hen that was starting to walk again died in a second dog attack about a month later. She was just starting to walk on her own and it was pretty sad after all the time I put in taking care of her I was pretty attached. Anyway figured I would update this thread.
