Hen with squishy, distended abdomen.

Thanks, Kathy. I did figure out what EYP was after I thought about it for a while

If you do not mind I will share some pictures of my hen that was walking the same as yours the first time I notices a problem. She was eating fine---just walking like a penguin with Alot of Extra Weight and a Very swollen abdomen. She was getting worse---the next day so I soaked her in warm water, greased her vent. The nest morning she was worse so I put her down and got out my knife.

These Pictures are Extremely Gross and I would ask the "Weak Stomached to not look!! These Pictures are of a EXTREEME EGG BOUND HEN. How she "acted like nothing was wrong for day is a wonder to me".

She had 16 unbusted yolks and many stacked inside each other pieces of shells. There were MANY busted yolks that had "Cooked" in her.

PD - Thanks for sharing your photos! Poor girl - no wonder she was walking funny with all that in her! Mine had nothing like that at all. Just the clear fluid and maybe a little yolk floating around, but I'm not sure. Nothing cooked, that's for sure. You did the best thing for your chicken.

Wow you've done an excellent job. Thanks for posting! After reading through this thread, I'm pretty sure that the hen I lost last year died of EYP. Will try to prevent it from happening again :(
