Hi, I have a hen and noticed that her eyelid seemed puffy. I have watched it for several days and it is pretty swollen. You can see her eye, but only halfway because the other half is covered by the (infected?) eyelid.

Should I lance it? Or put her on medication? If meds, what kind and what dose please. I really don't want to lose her.

If you can find it, some Terramycin eye ointment would be good. If you can't find it, maybe some antibiotic eye drops, like the combined polymixin/neomycin type is fine for her. We had some here when my DH was given them by a doctor and I used them on one hen whose eye was pushed back in the socket and fixed (injury in brooder)

Good idea! I will check there first. They had the Corid so I bet they have the Terramycin eye ointment

One of my roos started to get a 'zit' on his eyelid. Not sure what it was. I squeezed it and white stuff came out and I just left it be and it healed. It wasn't big or anything near to pressing on his eye, maybe a little bit bigger than a bb, or the size of a small dried pea or something like that.

Thank you Patty,
I am going to need two hands to really get a better look and either medicate or pop. I am going to get the medicine and if I end up not needing it, it will still be good to have it on hand.

My son is going to hate this LOL but since I get him from drivers ed 3 times a week I think I can talk him into it.
