Noticed this a week ago. Kept an eye on it. Noticed it was warm to the touch two days ago. I applied PRID and lightly wrapped it. Today it is a little more swollen and red. A few weeks ago I did see her hobbling down the driveway trying to run with the others. There have been no bumble foot signs up until today (noticing a tiny red dot on the top of her foot but it hasnt been there until today). She also hasn’t had any issues with the skin on her feet. She’s been in good health for the past several weeks. She had a lash egg infection over the summer and “recovered”. Doesn’t lay anymore. I’m familiar with bumble foot and how to treat, but I am not sure on this. I can only assume it’s a sprain or foot injury with swelling. Can anyone offer thoughts? I do have a vet local, but am asking for education purposes and until I can get into the office.

Is she able to move the middle toe? If you put your finger under her foot/toe area will she try to curls her toes around your finger?

The lump in the last pic looks a little redish with possibly some light bruising. Unless that's just how it looks on my computer.

You could always try to ice it a little to reduce some of the swelling.
The swelling is also protective so she doesn't over use it.

Do you have her separate and contained so she can stay off of it?

She will try and curl it. I looks like the swelling restricts her ability to curl it all the way, but she tries to. It is definitely reddish-purple. Can’t tell if that’s just from the swelling or the pressure pressing against blood vessels. From experience she’s miserable seperated. I have her with her flock and I’m not letting them free range as often as usual on her behalf. Their run is big with lots of room to roam around, but it at least restricts her to some extent.

Ive looked a few times over the days. Even in the very corners of the webbings. Nothing. It’s possible that there was a very tiny puncture that quickly healed in a matter of days, which would be why I can’t find anything. But I’ve never seen swelling like this with bumble foot. Nor have I seen it come on kinda quick like this. But it is an infection, so anything is possible.

I've used a very warm solution of Epsom Salts before on rodents and dogs for infectious punctures. Soak 2X daily for a full 5 minutes. If it's an infection (abscess) it will work itself to the surface and drain!

Good luck.

Just did a 10 min epsom soak. Took some pictures. I don’t know but it looks like the foot pad is discolored? Also there’s a speck there too, but when I tried investing it I can’t quite tell if it’s just dirty dry skin or a dry scab. It just rained this morning, so her feet are dirtier than normal.
