Hen with top beak broken at 45 degrees. UPDATED PICS POST #1

Again..thank you so very much for the support. Just checked on her and she is asleep. Ugh..I wish I could do more, but I will take sleeping as a good sign for now.

poor thing, for pain relief you can crush one baby aspirin into one cup of water and give her some with a dropper - fluids will probably help her anyway. I hope your vet can fix her beak!

Thanks again for the much needed support. Wishing I could do more but I can't...at least tonight. Hopefully tomorrow will bring good news. I will try the aspirin in the morning...thanks for the advice. Just regular aspirin..or baby aspirin?

Since she'll be going to the vet in the morning, I'd be be really careful about giving her anything by mouth via dropper at this point...with a tube, maybe. I'm probably extra cautious about that since I've seen some things that didn't work out as attended with parrots. Swelling, obstruction, or dulled reflexes could be an issue for her, making it difficult for proper swallowing or even to get the dropper far enough into the back of the throat to miss the wind pipe opening...but I have no experience with this with chickens.

Hi,

I wanted to remind you, in a gentle way, that battery hens have intentionally clipped beaks. My friend who worked for a vegan rescue farm said that sometimes they'd get the battery hens w/ the clipped beaks & they'd have to soak their food to make them better able to eat. If she won't eat, i'd get a syringe with a plastic or rubber tip and squirt the food in her like you're a momma bird.

Keep us all posted on your poor little beaker.
