my best layer will not get off the nest. im a new chicken owner and am perplexed,i have tried to feed her but she just pecks at me.she has been my best layer and a bossy little girl. any suggestions?

She has gone broody. You can give her some fertile eggs or cage her away from the nest site to break her broodiness.

I have two hens that are doing this as well. She is just broody. Broody hens can act like a complete different hen when their broody. I have been told to pick them up off their nest and move them outside to free range. When hens are broody, they dont eat the proper amount of food and water. Moving them off the nest encourages them to free range again and not stay on the nest 24/7. My two hens are slowly but surley coming out of it since i have been moving them off the nest.

Also if one hen is broody, your other hens are likley to become broody as well. When they see one hen thats broody, it encourages them to become broody as well. Get her off her nest ASAP to prevent this from happening.
