Hi, I have a year old silkie hen who won't leave the nest box unless I force her. She is not aggressive when I collect eggs and will eat if I force her out but, she insists on sitting in the nest box 24 hours a day. i have not seen her leave unless i force her out, not even when the flock gets their fresh goodies during the day. she feels thin to me at this point but, i am far from a chicken expert. any ideas? is this just "broodiness"? I am aware that silkies are known for being great brooders but, this seems excessive.....
