3-Year-Old cream legbar. Two days ago I found her sitting in the corner of her run, tail down. Not walking, but laid an egg that day. She has been laying eggs about four a week. She did have a poopy bottom so I soaked her bottom in some Epsom salt bath to clean and trim feathers. It is not uncommon for my two hens to get some poop on their butt, so it wasn't really a concern. I brought her inside put her in a cage, where she has spent the last two nights. She eats layer pellet feed. The snack I give them once in awhile, is actually a layer feed called hen House reserve from kalmback feeds, they think it's a snack. I thought she might be lacking in vitamins, even though her layer feed contains vitamins, so I purchased poultry nutri drench and tried adding it to her water, which she absolutely refused to drink. I learned you can pull down on their waddles to get them to open their beak, so I was able to get a little bit into her beak to consume directly.. after a day inside I noticed her tail was lifted again, but she will not stand. Her feet and legs, nothing seems broken. Her comb and waddles are a good color of red. She eats good, and she drinks fine. Since she was looking better and was in a small cage I thought today I would take her outside to see if she would walk. She will not. I've given her scrambled eggs once a day for b vitamins, and she loves them. Her crop doesn't get real full because she hasn't been eating a ton, and empties out fine by mooring. Her droppings are normal, no diarrhea, But a few of them have been quite stinky. Her sister is not exhibiting any issues. I am totally stumped. There are absolutely no avian vets in my area, I found a farm vet But he does not handle chickens. I do want to mention about a month ago she was limping, no bumblefoot but on the bottom of one of her feet was a little pink spot I thought maybe she stepped on a stone and bruised it. But other than that, I can't figure out what may be wrong or what to do at this point. I have gently given her a physical exam, I do not believe she is egg-bound. I did order some safeguard aquasol wormer. It will come in Saturday. Any suggestions appreciated!!!!!!

Update Incase someone else ever has this issue. I kept hen in the house for 6 days. She ate and drank the whole time. I am almost convinced she had a flair up of gout! Everything I read this was the closest description of her symptoms.
I remembered about a few months ago she was not putting full pressure down on one foot, and had a slight limp. No bumblefoot but a small red dot on the bottom of foot like she may have stepped on something and bruised it. She eventually stopped limping and went back to normal. Then this happened a month later...she refused to walk or stand
She never exhibited any signs of being ill otherwise.
She HATES the poultry nutri drench and will not drink it in water so I started to force it in her beak once a day. I also scrambled her an egg for vitamin B once a day
She is doing great!!! All of a sudden she started standing and now is walking around like nothing was ever wrong!
I am going to lower her roost bar today and keep an eye out. I'm sure she will most likely have flair ups in the future.

I was always told chickens get all the nutrients they need from their feed and I don't feed them food scraps or scratch. I use Kalmback feed for a treat because it's different from their Layer pellets and they think it is a snack. And the only people food they will eat is watermelon (they are very picky girls)
But from now on I believe they need additional vitamins and will attempt to add one to their water when needed.

But for now- It was poultry nutri-drench to the rescue!!!

A Thank you to Wyorp Rock for offering help when I needed it!! I was unable to pick up Xtra Calcium this week but I believe the nutri-drench has some in it. I appreciate the advice!!!
Is she able to walk since she laid the egg or not?
She started standing the next day, I posted an update and a thank you at the end! I was working long hours this week and. Was unable to pick up Xtra calcium but there is good news!
Is she able to walk since she laid the egg or not?
