Hello all! I let a broody hen hatch out some chicks in the beginning of June and I'm curious to know if anyone has ideas on possible sex? I'd also love to know what mix of breed(s) the two black hens could be as well.
#1-5 are from a pen with a Light Sussex rooster over a Welsummer hen and 2 black Marans? looking hens one with a single comb and one with what I think is a peacomb? Both have leg feathering on slate/grey legs though they went through such bad scaly leg mites at their previous home it's hard to tell. Both lay regular brown eggs.
#6 is from a bonus egg I put in from a pen with a blue Ameraucana rooster over a Cuckoo marans, barred rock, and SLW hen.
My hunches are #1,2,4, and possibly 6 are cockerels with the mostly black/white chicks looking like silver sussex when they're fully feathered out but I'm happy to be wrong the guessing game is always so fun!
