Hen's Face Swollen

Unfortunately nothing very helpful--the results were very vague. We're still inclined to think that we had some black widdows hatch out but haven't had any more trouble in that department. Thank you for your concern.

PS The avian pox (?) ran it's course and was uneventful. We had a rooster that had one side of his head get pretty swollen but the others may have had just a spot or two and about half never showed any symptoms at all. Things have calmed down quite a bit now--I like it better that way!

Are you sure that no one is poisoning your animals? It seems odd that your cavies and chickens are dropping dead. I'm sorry you're going thru this. Karen

I don't know what Guinea Pigs find toxic, but chickens can die from potatoes, right? And there's dozen (scores, hundreds) of other plants that are toxic. Since the thread started in August, height of summer, perhaps one of those are the culprits. Would bad grain also kill? How about things like lawn fertilizer?

Would any of these have shown up on necropsy?

It still sounds like poisoning to me, to kill 2 different animal types. It could very well be fertilizer or weed killer, they are neurotoxic, gave my mom's dog seizures.
Black widows are very shy, they hide from everyone. I don't kill the ones I have, I just take the eggs and destroy them, cause mom only lives for a year.
Hope we can figure this out, Karen
Bad grain is a possibility. How bout that pet food that had that toxin in it from China , and killed some pets.
