Last year we raised our chicks using the chicken nipple watering system. They did great. However, this winter was a harsh one and the nipples and the water kept freezing so I had to import water for them a couple times a day.
Now, everybody has totally forgotten how to use the chicken nipples and I've even let them get thirsty so they would go to the nipples, but they won't! (Nobody said chickens were smart).
Has anyone experienced this and successfully reintroduced the chicken nipples? I am concerned about their health because the water buckets stay nasty and I can't keep them clean. Now some of my hens seem puffed up and lethargic and I'm wondering if she needs antibiotics and/or needs to be wormed. I picked one up today and she is so skinny!!!!
