hens gone crazy!!

I have two Cortunix hens that are my best layers one lays really big eggs. But they just turned on there rooster and tore him up! So I removed him from the pen. And I tried to put in another rooster. But they attacked him also. My question is! They are almost 1 year old So is it time for the pot for them or will they settle back down soon without him??? So I can put one back with them. I will keep them a few more weeks for there eggs but should I replace them? Dave

Also the rooster I took out acts like he is now wild. I can't even get near his cage without him jumping all around and making his head a bloody mess. I think he is going to be dinner this next weekend.

This happens pretty often in small groups of coturnix. Sometimes you can add a new rooster but once the hens know they can fight back it makes it tough, I've had to table 5 or 6 before for this same behavior. You can also try assimilating the hens into a bigger group of birds.
