I have heard that the leaves of potato plants are poisonous. My hens got into one of my plants and stripped it of its leaves. Should I be worried? Has anyone encountered this before?
Thank you for your replies.

It's not good for them, although if potato plants are not the only thing they can eat - in other words, if they have access and can eat LOTS of other non-toxic edible green plants - then I wouldn't worry too much about a few leaves. Chickens can self-regulate, as long as they are healthy and have choices. I am more concerned about chickens that eat toxic plants because that's all they can get. Their urge to eat green growing things is huge.

Thank you, kindly. It was only one plant they got to....and it had very few leaves on it anyway. I've since covered up the planter box with hardware cloth, so they won't get to it again.

cheers,
c
