I know the rooster before they came to us gave them a hard time, but I worry about their bare backs. We have two white ones that seem to be loved most by the rooster, but how do you make this problem resolve? I have heard to put meat out there if you see blood as they may need protein, but just want their feathers to gro back quick! Our roo doesn't seem to be on them a whole lot but don't know what goes on in the coop at night....

Bare backs are normal if you have a roo. You could use a hen saddle/apron but I tried that once and they freaked out. It will work though once they get used to it.

I had to put a saddle on my roo because he got injured in a dog attack... He didn't seem to care. I'd try the chicken saddle thing, they look adoreable, and no one seems to notice them, even the other chickens will peck it a couple of times and then do nothing.
