I got four buff Orphs and a silverlaced wyndott as chicks in march. I also got an adult rooster, 4 black stars and a 2 redstars. Now the the buff orphs and SLW are adults (laying eggs and such) they compleatly ignore the rooster. The other hens will come when he calls and follows him around but he ignors the buff orphs and they ignore him. Is this a breed issue or something else. Crystal

cgjsmith, it seems like the roo's always have their favorite women. It sounds like he isn't worried about it. I know for sure if he wanted them he would get his way.... that could possibly happen in the future if he decides he needs more company. Good Luck.

I found out what happened. we bought 4 buff orphingtons and 4 4 silver laced as day old chicks. only one silver laced survived (owl problem) Any way I thought it was a hen but it crowed last night. I figure since they grew up togather the buffs look aat the SLW as there roo. So I have two "families" of chicken in my back yard ha ha. C
