I am looking for homes for hens rescued from a battery cage facility in central NY. These poor ladies have had terrible lives and deserve to live out the rest of their days with love and excellent care. Despite their treatment, many of these birds are beautiful and in pretty good health.
Adopters must be willing to provide a predator-proof enclosure and should understand that these birds have spent their lives in cages and will need time to acclimate before being allowed to free-range. These birds need adopters who will commit to not slaughtering or breeding them. They are White Leghorns and are 2 years of age or younger. Most are still laying well, so they will likely reward your efforts with lots of fresh eggs. These birds are available in groups of 2-15. There is no charge for them, but donations are always welcome!
They are located in Tompkins County, NY. I may be able to help with some transportation, but would ask that adopters be able to travel at least part of the distance. They cannot be shipped.
Please contact me if you are interested or have questions. If you are interested in adopting, please tell me about your current housing and chicken experience!!
Thanks!
