Hens lay the same color of egg they hatched from?

Do hens lay the same color of shell that they hatched out of? I ask because I hatched some barnyard mix eggs and one of the chicks is looking like an Easter egger. So I'm wondering if that chick turns out to be a hen if she will lay a brown egg (what she hatched from) or a blue/green one.

What color the pullet will lay depends on what breed the father is. If the father has genes for blue egg shells, the pullet will probably lay green eggs.

Hmm ok I don't know what genes the father has as this is a barnyard mix. So I guess I will have to wait and see. Thanks.
