I have some new young hens that just started laying. They lay eggs in their poopy coop floor under where they sleep. I have put eggs in their nest boxes but they refuse to lay in there. What more can I do? I have never had this problem before.

Do you have older birds too?I have some new young hens that just started laying. They lay eggs in their poopy coop floor under where they sleep.
No I dont have any others. We just got these hens a couple weeks ago. They are about 4 months old. New layers. I have eggs in their nest boxes and I know theyve been snooping around in there because the shavings are moved around.Do you have older birds too?
How long have you had these 'new hens'... and how old are they(in months)?
Newly laying pullets can take awhile to get with the program,
especially if there are older birds maybe harassing them.
Ditto Dat.Adding a picture of the inside of your coop would help. Then someone might be able to figure out the problem.
