I've been feeding my hens the same brand of organic layer feed for two years. The last week, they've not been eating much of it at all. I store it in a galvanized can, and it is not moldy or smelly at all. It is not a new bag of feed. They free-range the backyard, and there isn't much fresh to eat out there right now, so I don't know what else they could be eating instead. I see them eating it when they first are let out of the coop in the morning but don't get home until almost dark, but the bowl is still almost full when I lock up the coop at night. Anyone have any ideas about what's going on? Should I go buy some other kind of feed to try?

It could be worms.

Or it could be that there is something wrong with the feed. If you are sure about the feed, then I'd consider whether it is worms or not. Or mites/lice.

Not eating like that is what my chickens have done in the past with worms.
