Hens not laying...Rooster maybe?

I enlarged the photo comparing two of them. One looks clearly like the pullet. The other the cockerel. I would think these are buff orpington but the legs are yellow.

They told me they hatched in March. It is now Oct

But her first post said that these chics were 7 months old! That should be more than enough time for male saddle feathers to grow in, if they're male...

And some breeds have slowly maturing roosters. I guessed cockerel from the OP's earlier postings.

I had chickens for 20 years. Then moved to Florida and didn't have them for 5. I'm just getting back into it and I'm a little rusty to be sure. I got 4 "pullets" from a local farmer and have had "the girls" for about 3 months. In June, the woman told me they had been hatched in March so I was thinking by September I would have eggs. After a run-in with a raccoon, I now have 3 in a re-inforced coop and run. It is October and still no eggs, but I have noticed 2 of them are looking more like roosters. Longer neck feathers and 2 distinctly longer tail feathers that stick up. No crowing though, interestingly. I thought if they were roosters, I would hear at least a squawking attempt at crowing by now. So anyone have any ideas?View attachment 1151643

The one in the back looks like a roo and the one in the front is definitely a pullet

So its official. Crowing started this morning. Ugh... Now I've got to find homes for 2 roosters and only have 1 hen who isn't laying.

Bummer! You're having a tough reentry into the chicken world, eh?

I sadly returned my 2 roosters to the farm today. The owner would not trade for any hens because she is not getting many eggs herself and doesn't want to give any up. So I have one lonely pullet who is not laying. A tough reentry indeed. I have one amazing coop with beautiful flower boxes, lots of chicken "toys" and only one chicken. I will be on the search for chicken farmers, traders, auctions or what-have-you in my area. I feel like we are maybe too close to the city to have much luck.
