I have 6 hens and three out of the 6 are laying. They are all the same age of 20 weeks. The 3 are consistent of laying their eggs all in the same nest all before 9:00 am. The 3 that are not laying, could it be a the weather or just not ready to lay their eggs?

At 20 weeks of age it is more likely a simple lack of readiness/maturity in the three non-layers than an issue of heat. You are actually on the early side of the "average" window of time in which laying starts for most birds. Even within the same breed they are individuals and just as with human girls some mature faster than others. Hang in there - they'll all be up to speed soon enough.

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing, but wasn't quite sure.

X2 on ole grey mare. 20 weeks is still pretty young. So your other birds are just late starters. Totally normal. Just make sure they all have lots of food, water and extra calcium. The others should start up soon.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

X3 Your birds need to mature a bit more. Each bird is different and grow at different rates. So give them time and they should all be laying soon. :-)

Enjoy all those first eggs! And welcome to our flock!
