Good evening, I am new to keeping chickens and so far am loving it!
I acquired a light Sussex cockerel a couple of weeks ago, he was hatched off in august and is a big gentle boy!
Today I got 4 black rock hens for him they are 20 weeks old and are just coming into lay..
It is their first night together and I watched them all for a couple of hours before leaving them alone for the night..
No problems, they were all showing interest but no attacking!
When it went to them settling in for the night it all looked fine but I went out just now and the hens are sat on the floor. Is this a problem? I have heard young hens may prefer to sit on the floor but I wonder if my cockerel is not letting them on his perch...
Keep an eye or do something?
Any replys would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Sam
