Hens or Roos? Ameracauna/EEs

True Ameraucanas will have either slate or black legs. If they're green or yellow, they aren't full-blooded Am's; they're EE's.

Yeah, you definitely have some boys in there. I'm seeing most all cockerels, though in the first picture, the black on in the back might be a pullet - it's hard to tell.. The other blacks that you can see the faces on are cockerels, for sure. They look just like my boys did at that age, with the red. And I'm seeing some pointy hackles on a couple of them. The buff between them looks mighty boyish, too.

There's a chance that you could have all boys

Did you get them straight run? Sorry if you already mentioned this.

x2.

x2. That's a lot of boys. Don't figure it makes you feel any better, but I bought some straight run EEs this spring and ended up with 10 of 13 being cockerels.

Do you think the black one on the right in the first pic could be a pullet?
Sorry. That's too much comb for a 12 week old Ameraucana pullet. It looks like it has three rows of peas, and it's very red.
Got pics!!

Those are the two that I think are roosters.....

I'm crossing my fingers for NO roosters!! But I am pretty sure I have some... Any opinions on these or......
these?

I think you're right on your rooster guesses. The top one 100% rooster, the bottom one has a slim chance of being a pullet. Do you have a shot of its face?

So you mean the chicken in the 2nd picture?

I have that...

Or the one in the 4th picture?

I have that picture... How many out of these 4 are roosters? (if you know or have a pretty good guess please let me know!!)

2boysteacher....I think that black bird being held by your boy is a roo, but if you could get a profile shot of it standing would be better. I'm just looking at that sickle looking feather hanging down, plus the comb.

Laci--It's always best to start your own thread for questions like this, otherwise it gets confusing who is responding to who. Just sayin'

that said, your two suspected roosters are indeed male. The red coloring on the wings, the larger combs.........those are boys.

Ok I went ahead and made a thread called 'Pullet or Cockerel'... Thanks for the idea!
I was hoping I was wrong about the gender! I REALLY didn't want more roosters

And I hate to get rid of them because I have really started to like them all.. Darn!!

First is a cockerel, second is a pullet.
Ok thanks! (although I was hoping that you would say two pullets

)

So how many chicks out of the 4 pictured are roos??

I added 2 EE to my flock and they are now 10 weeks old. One of them has me suspect of being a rooster. Hes rather docile and my gold lace is still by far the top of the pecking order.
