Sportchick, hackle feathers are the ones around the lower part of the neck. You can see them pretty well in the last picture of Moe. An upset rooster will raise them up to make a ruff around his face. Very cool and intimidating, and you will get a new understanding about the phrase "that really got my hackles up"!
