Kyle and I are back from our honeymoon in Niagara Falls, which was lovely! Since then we have added a few more additions to our flock! Again, we're not allowed roosters where we live due to city ordinance so we're going to stay positive and love all of them anyway for as long as we can! We still have our own suspicions regarding some of the older ones and we'd love to hear the community's thoughts and suspicions on if you think we have hens or roosters!

We're currently in the process of updating our shed to be a coop, which has been a very fun process! They say when you have kids that they are all you and your spouse talk about... Well chickens are all we seem to talk about all day long! And we're loving it!

Thanks! Enjoy!

Beautiful birds! Are you sure Luna is a silkie? She looks so much like Gilbert, my porcelain d'Uccle. Sorry I don't mean to second guess you. I'm just very new to chickens and learning.

I just got my first silkie totally by accident from the assorted bantams bin this past weekend. It's really cute with its 5 little toes, lol. Attached is what Gilbert looked like around 3 weeks. He's only 4 weeks now, but he's growing fast.

No, we are not sure that she's a silkie at all!! We got her out of the assorted bantam bin and, being new to chickens ourselves, we saw the fuzzy feet and just thought she was!! Then we compare her to Cotton and we don't think she looks anything like the way Cotton did at her age!! Thanks for sharing, we're going to look into porcelain d'Uccles now!!

My pleasure! My mom thought Gilbert was a silkie as well. The only reason I questioned it is because he didn't have the 5 toes and his legs aren't black. Through research and help from people here, I determined what he actually is. They're beautiful birds, and they are rumored to be docile and friendly. Gilbert definitely is.

We were wondering the same too looking at her toes and her comb!! My husband is super bummed that she's not a silkie (He loves the goofy looking birbs! And we're hoping and praying that Cotton isn't a rooster so we don't lose our goofy looking baby!) but she's still our baby and we love her just the same!! She's definitely one of our sweetest babies for sure too!!

Sending pullet vibes for Cotton! I got a silkie on Sunday from the bantam bin at Rural King. It's a black silkie (I think, lol). It's definitely got 5 toes and black feet. It's so tiny!
