We have had a very busy past couple of weeks so we thought skipping posting a week of updated pictures would be reasonable!

Kyle has been sick for the past week and I just had surgery yesterday, so we've been feeling pretty run down! Last night I sat down in a chair in the backyard and Kyle was kind enough to put chickens in my lap for me to enjoy!

We have appreciated everyone's help with identifying if we have hens or roosters and updating any incorrect breeds we have listed! (Thanks Tractor Supply for the confusion...)

Nobody is laying or crowing as of yet, but we have a suspicion that Hiccup might start laying soon, and of course that Pepper and Casey (formerly know as Cassi) will be roosters!

Also, Candy's tail feathers appear to be growing back in so we're super excited for that!

Our little ones are so stinking sweet, Luna, Scarlett, and Lily in particular! I told Kyle that if Luna needed to be a house chicken and we'd have to bring her bestie Scarlett inside too!

Huge shout out to my dad and Kyle for being relentless in the rain last week to build some roosting bars for the coop! Some updated pictures of our set up to come!

Raising chickens has been one of the coolest things I have ever done, and we are so excited for our very first egg!

Thanks again everyone for your input!

I hope you have a speedy recovery from surgery.

No changes with the chickens. I'm confident they're all pullets except for Casey and Pepper.

Is there a reason why Luna would need to be a house chicken? She looks happy and healthy to me. Bantams can hold their own when they are raised from chicks with larger fowl.

I concur with the above.

I hope you recover quickly!!

Look at sweet Luna!! I just love her. Here's our Gilbert who is now 10 weeks old.

He wasn't his best here, as we had coccidiosis make its way through the coop. But he's 100% again now.

We panicked during integration when the teenagers were picking on her, we were terrified they would bully her too badly! I like to think I take good care of humans but I know nothing about chicken injuries! We're optimistic now that she'll be just fine with the flock, she's the fastest for sure, and she has Scarlett that she'll hide underneath sometimes, which is very cute! It's just a "just in case we have to" thought but ideally she'd stay outside with the rest! Especially because she is the absolute sweetest little bird! Scarlett too!

Integration is always dicey, but hopefully everyone will get along after they settle in. As long as they have enough space and there are places where the less dominant birds can hide then she should be okay. Most chickens are much happier outside.
