Hens pecking my shoe and leg

Some people say their chickens peck at their shoes or pants when they want to be held and interacted with.

I've heard supplying food all the time makes chickens not as likely to forage. Is this true?

I have food available to my chicks from four different locations at all times.....they still keep the bugs down in my lawn better than the bug man ever did! AND they are better than my rototiller around my flowers( flowers intact, bug free, dirt tilled around the root ball up to a foot deep). Just because we supply food does not mean we override a thousand plus years of natural instinct.

Keep the food on hand for them and readily available for them if they need it, they know how to find the good stuff.

A couple of mine peck at my leg hairs. It's still funny.

They have food available at all times, but there's this crevice above the gate to the run that fills with earwigs every night, so I get a mob of excited chooks waiting to feast on what falls when I open the gate.

I can see both of these getting annoying at some point, but it's super cute and has been for a couple months
