Hens, Roos, EEers? I have no clue. Your thoughts. Pic heavy

I suggest you try searching the forums on this site, there is a lot of information available that way. Go to the top of the page and click "search forums" and type a subject or question, and a wealth of information will pop up... Info about EE's, Araucana, Ameraucana will all come up with all the threads that the information appears in... That all black one looks just like an Australorp I used to have... She was a pretty bird. I think you have at least 3 or 4 that look like all EE, at least, one of which is that beautiful dark one with the gold.

Lol, I have been searching. This was a breed i never took interest in nor studied. Now 10! I just can't keep it all straight between the three.

Funny you say Australorp cause I think there are 2! One cockerel and one pullet.

Thanks!

You say that some of the girls are 'tufted'. I wanted to point out that they aren't. They have muffs. Tufts almost look like they have pig tails, whereas muffs look like chubby cheeks.
Here is my tufted Araucana roo for reference. I need to get one where he's looking directly at me.

LOL! I read that one a few times. It would appear I have mutts. But will they lay blue eggs?

Thanks

it all depends on their breeding. They could lay any color.
I have two, an adult and a juvenile EE. My adult hen lays lovely mint green colored eggs. The younger will lay blue. The only reason I know this is because her mother was a lavender Ameraucana and her father was a black breasted red Araucana. Only blue genes coming from them. hehehe forgive the pun.

Pardon my ignorance people by what exactly is an Easter Egger?
Agree with Nardo, however, typically Easter Eggers have been bred to produce a colored egg. So if you have a blue egg laying breed and breed it to a brown colored egg breed you should get a percentage of the chicks laying green eggs and a percentage laying brown. That's why they say they can lay any color. They're cheaper because they aren't a full bred bird, but there's no guarantee you're going to get a girl that lays a specific color egg.
