Hens skin on neck sliced wide open on fence

Pics
Shezadandy, i had the hardest time tying stitches with the feather quills getting in the way. How did you cut off the quills, or did the bird not have many feathers at the injured site?

I wrote that

I "reacted" sad, but i actually got angry w you. I'm in the middle of an emergency and i should take photos to satisfy curiosity? Would that be before I put on my gloves and douse everything with iodine, or after? Should I maybe cause my beautiful, friendly 6-egg-a-week hen to die because I want to get a great shot of me getting her feathers outside and her fat inside, and write about her on the internet? She is alive! And she counts on me.
I'm calling you on insensitivity. Which is very atypical for me.
Oh, goodness, no! I was not trying to be insensitive!! I just know sometimes when people's birds have injuries on here, they post pictures. I agree that people like to see what they're working with, if that makes sense. Please forgive me for offending you!

To everyone who has had some success treating a bad injury, did you clean off the old treatments or mostly just keep adding new antibiotic/ vetyricin right on top? Obviously if it's pussing, etc, I'll have to remove junk before adding new.

The wound wasn't visible, except that she had a paunch in front of her breast, as if her crop were really full. I had to cut feathers off for a long time before i could see how to proceed. The paunch was all her skin hanging down, but it still was rightside out, feathered, and beautiful.
I didnt figure out that she was injured until the 4th time i visited her. Then the combo of her attitude/i saw the wire with 3 feathers and a weird clear yellow glob/having read that birds hide their pain really well/and although i thought she had been suffering from heat, it wasn't all that hot out, i started to check her out to see where she got poked. I lifted her feathers on the the back of her neck and saw like 4 inches of neck , no skin! I let the feathers fall back into place, and it looked normal.
Horrifying.
