My chickens also do this with us. a few even try to do it with the horses. Luckily the horses are mellow and not afraid of the chickens.

The only one I have that does this is my 5 month old pullet Agatha.
But she doesn’t squat, she lets be brush my hand across her back or tail (I’m trying to pet her) and she will stop and fluff up and shake herself.
She doesn’t let me get close enough to actually really pet her or pick her up though.
None of my older hens or pullets do it at all.
