So this has probably been asked a million times before...
I purchased two laying Plymouth Barred Rock hens off of Craigslist. The first day I brought them home they laid an egg. The next day nothing, and two months later still nothing. I understand chickens will stop laying if they're under stress and the stress of moving probably slowed egg production. However- it seems as though they would start laying again. They have a great coop, nesting area, and fresh food and water all day. There is really no predator threats as they are very secured. Anything I can do? Would introducing a new rooster help?

Hi CountryKennel,

Sometimes the heat will slow laying down, but are you sure they don't have a spot hidden?  Two months does seem like a long time.

Do they free range? I assume not, as you say they are 'secured'.
Do you have other chickens and are they laying?
What and how exactly are you feeding?
