This us my first time to raise chickens. Got a coop and 12 new chicks 5 mo ago. Now I have a chicken who looks like a hen and who crows with the roos quite often. I also have a chicken who looks like a rooster but acts like one of the hens and he doesn't crow nor try to breed . Any ideas what's going on here.

It is possible that your "hen" may be a "roo" and vice versa. Can you post pics of them so we can have a look?

Well it is possible. A lady down the street has a polish hen that has even grown spurs and crows. Usually it is in the absence of a rooster but anything is possible. I gave her a rooster since her old guy passed on but this polish is persistent. We know she is a hen because she used to layeggs and then stopped when she made her change. I would make sure it is a hen or vise versa withthe other bird. Then you will know whether you want them or not. I know she said she was going to boil her rooster hen in a pot but she is still there crowing. If it were me I would if she wasn't layingeggs but to each their own. Hope I helped. I am definitely not an expert but have some limited experience in this matter so I thought why not add to it.

Here they are, the black is a roo that doesn't know it and the gold is a hen that crowd...( I think? )
