HEN'S TOE HANGING ON BY THE BONE

My hen must have caught her toe on something and almost ripped it off. It's all dried out and the only thing holding it together is the bone. My husband said clip it off ... will it fall off on it's own? I feel horrible i didn't see this sooner, the toe is definitely lost. Anybody have this happen to their chicken? Any advice welcome...

Eventually it will probably fall off by itself, but if indeed it is all dried up there should be no sensation in it. It would make life easier for her if you just cut it off. You can hold her and have your husband do the deed.
