My hens wing was torn off by what I think was a raccoon or opossum reaching its hands through the coop. They are not free range so that’s the only option. I hadn’t noticed until today, since I didn’t notice any of them acting strangely. However there were some feathers around the coop Sunday so I guess that was when it happened. Anyway, my poor girl has the whole wing torn off, if you move the feathers out of the way you can actually see that wing bone sticking out it’s horrible. The weird thing is she seems to be doing fine. I moved her to isolation as soon as I noticed because the other chickens started picking on her. She’s been eating and drinking a lot, she’s pooped regularly, she’s walking normally, I let her in the grass even and she just scratched around eating grass. I’m going to clean the area and put betadine solution on it tonight, unless any of you objects to something different. I guess my question is, what should I do? Should I put her down or does she have a chance? I’ve searched everywhere their is no vet that takes chickens around us. Is there a way it can heal and the others won’t pick on her? If she seemed to be in pain no question id put her down, but she seems almost ok. What should I do?????
