When my hen starts to lay eggs. Will she try to sit on them till they hatch or will she leave them the first time.

Some will go broody, some will not. Broodies stay on the nest almost all the time, and fluff out and growl if you move them. A broody doesn't even care whether she has any eggs. Some breeds go broody more than others, but you really never know. I was just reading on here about a broody Leghorn, and this is a breed that the broodiness has essentially been bred out of. I've been getting one broody for maybe every 4 or 5 hens, and I bought broody-inclined breeds. (Henderson's chicken chart tells this.)

Do you have a rooster? If you don't the eggs wouldn't be fertile anyway and would not hatch.

you need a broody hen for 21 days with fertile eggs to get chicks.
