hens won't get off nest

will they stay broody forever until tey starve or something?

Some hens will come out of it on their own. Some will stay broody until they really hurt themselves. Depends on the hen.

Will hens go broody even if they don't have a roo around

Yes, Hens will lay without a rooster and they will go broody without a rooster.

We have had a broody hen for over 2 months..still a bit even now but she gets out to eat and drink then back in she goes... no one gets in her nest. I have a buff orf, hen that when she goes broody she puffs up like a blow fish.... I've found that moving them just makes it take longer. I was making the buff and a red I have get out of the nest every day.... 2-3 times. it just make it last longer.
Its nature, she will stop when its time.

I have 2 mottled cochins hens that are broody bad!! They hatched one batch of eggs together, I took the babies since I had no where to seperate them, and they kept setting...They also had other eggs from the other hens laying that I didn't know they were laying in there. So now one chic has hatched and I moved the one hen( that I think has been sittin the longest) and the chic to a new pen..HELLOOOO she's still trying to sit, the baby comes and goes and eats as it pleases but she's still sitting, I also moved the other hen and the remaining eggs in with the baby and the other hen. She kept stealing all the fresh eggs that were laid..Now their both playing mommy to the chic, and setting on the remaining eggs..

And here they are..LOL

Well now my rose comb banty has decide to go broody on me too. Can I take them all three and put them in a wire bottom cage together, or should they all be in separate cages?
