My birds love to pick up pieces of shavings and tuck it under them. they also make a deep purring noise that my rooster used to do too. it was pretty cool sounding when they all started up. Sometimes they would reach over the dividers to the next box over and take shavings from there lol. They also talk to themselves while they do it.

I sometimes wonder why chickens scratch all the way to the bottom to lay the egg on the wood. I have no idea why they do that, except to try to hide while laying an egg. But then all that clucking will give the location away.
