Her comb and wattles are purply instead of red! she's sick

Update...

so she's been drinking like it is nobodys business. and when she's not drinking she's sleeping. I thought she was a gonner earlier but went to get the penicillin. Long story short, I called and they said they had it. I go there and they didn't. they were out. they only had gigantic bottles which I couldnt justify buying since she looked like she wasn't going to make it by he time I got home. so I left. got home and she was standing up drinking. she's been drinking ever since. for an HOUR!? what is up with that?

she has the tetramyacin in the water. she isn't eating.... just drinking. and a LOT. her comb looks a little less purple to me. maybe the meds are working? she started them this morning so it would be about 8 hours now. I hope this is going to work.

thank you

shes back to drinking again!

im going to try and hand feed her in a bit here

ok her chest area is poofy and squishy. is this from all the fluid you guys were referring to w/ an infection? or is this something to do w/ her crop?

If her crop is squishy it's probably from all the water she's drinking, if it's more in her belly (making her do the penguin walk) it's more likely from the internal laying/infection. You might try giving her some scrambled eggs. They're a good high protien food that most chooks will eat even when they're not feeling great.

I've been giving her egg yolks. she will eat them from my hand but not from her bowl... so I gave her a little earlier. I ought to feed her again. all she does is drink ALL DAY LONG. she's drinking as we speak. it really does feel like her crop that is squishy. my guess is that it is filled with all that water.? her poops are really runny, but I think that is to be expected with all the water, LOL!

She has a gross poopy butt feathers though. shall I clean it? do I need to give her a bath? Do I need to encourage her to lay an egg? she did not lay an egg today., not sure if she's supposed to or not...? will she continue to produce eggs while sick? do I need to try to get her to lay one so she doesn't become bound?

if she completely recovers, how long do I continue the meds? how long should I keep her separate from the others? and how long do I keep her eggs from getting mixed with the others eggs? can't eat them when she's on antibiotics, correct?

All these questions!

her wattles are much more red now than they were. they were a blueish purple this morning. really dark. and now they are getting a bit of red in them. her comb is a little bit red too, but not as red as her wattles.

does that sound like she is on the road to recovery? I just need to figure out how to care for her daily to keep her well and not get worse ill. the bum concerns me. she still pulses her vent like. and her feathers below it are all nasty. prob from the runny poo? IDK!!

Hard to say what's going on. If she doesn't smell sour, it isn't sour crop, probably just the water. My Ivy has been purple on and off for a week or two, but I'm sure she's dying. This is her third bout with this, though.

Here is a question: WHY all the water? she's drank prob 3/4 a quart today. and she is STILL drinking. seriously. she does it for like an hour straight.

and.... is all the antibiotics in that water going to be too much for her with her filling up like that?
