Her Exulted Highness, Mildred the Hen

I was experimenting with the close-up feature on my new camera today, when I caught this shot of Mildred the Hen. The close up shows things I never noticed with the naked eye. It's funny how much the chooks resemble their reptile ancestors.

She's a lovely gal. I really am glad chickens are not the size of an ostrich. We'd be in trouble then.
