Is this normal or is she laying more than the usual Barred Rock? Tuesday was her first, Thursday her second and then one every day since [IMG] I am so excited, I didn't even know that a chicken could lay 6 a week [IMG] And they are SO good!

Well researching, I have never found a breed that lays more than 5 a week. I don't know how acurate that is. According to My Pet Chicken, BR only lay 4 on an average week.

Our Barred Rock has been laying for 3 weeks now and has only missed two days. My 2 year old Daughter and I go and collect the eggs every morning and so far there has always been one light brown egg. If they lay this well in the winter I wonder if that means two a day in the summer?

    Hi,

Yes, I think it is normal as my RIR's pullets lay an egg almost every day. I have 4 RIR pullet girls and many times, I get 4 eggs a day, sometimes 3, but never less (so far, anyway). These girls are great--good luck! Genie

Ah, thats great. This probably means that the rest of the girls will be laying more than expected. Does anyone have Buckeyes, Turkens, Marans, Black Stars, Wellsummers or EE's? If so, how many do you get from them on average?

My Black Stars are egg-laying machines. They eat a lot too![IMG]
