There are just two Ameraucana eggs, one each Silver's and Charlotte's. Last time, Charlotte's baby was too large, had no room to maneuver inside the egg to pip and ran out of air. We pipped the shell at the end of Day 21 and it appeared to have just expired. A perfectly formed, beautiful baby. If Silver's baby hatches ahead of Charlotte's and Charlotte's hasn't pipped by the beginning of Day 21, we may go ahead and pip the aircell end to be sure it can breathe. On Wednesday, I have eight eggs going into the hatcher, six more Ameraucanas and two Blue Orpingtons. Then on the 29th, two or three more eggs go into the hatcher. One more hatch starts in the third week of December and I'm done, done, done till Spring. I think.

Sounds like your going to be really busy for the next few weeks. I have such a hard time stopping.

...says she who is getting a large shipment of eggs from moi this week, LOL! BTW, it showed up on the USPS site tonight. Maybe this time, they'll do their jobs properly. We can only hope! Actually, most of my shipments make it to where they're going in two days and undamaged, so I've been very lucky.

Im just keeping my fingers crossed

. I know Im hopelessly addicted to chickens. At least I know most eveyone here is in the same boat. Its not much help to stop hatching when they have such beautiful birds.

I have never hatched chicks but, I don't know how you can keep going through being on pins and needles so much. Has that hatcher had a break since last winter?

Good luck!

Oh, yeah, it's had a long break. The first chicks I've hatched were Oct 13 since the last batch hatched back on April 20. What's that, six months?
You see, Kitty, it's EMPTY NEST SYNDROME! Had to get more babies!!!!

I'm on day 21 this morning, too. One pipped last night and this morning I have another one that's about a fourth of the way zipped. It's just so much fun to see these little guys pop out, I just can't stop myself. As I mentioned in another post, I have a dozen eggs that shipped yesterday ready to go in the bator as soon as the current batch goes in the brooder. I've already picked out the next batch of eggs, some of Jody's Buff Orp eggs. I sure wouldn't mind adding a few Blue Orp eggs. Hint, Hint,

Sooo, Cynthia, I know that is a ways out there, but I know you have a waiting list. Think I could get added to the list for around Dec 15th? Of course, this is only if the girls keep laying. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed. Then I will be done til spring, humm, well, we'll see.

Sherrie, I'd love to, but I'm booked for the Blue Orps through then and I'm not sending any eggs after the second week of December because of the Christmas pkg rush and the likelihood of damage to the eggs. I could maybe get you some out on January 14th, though, if you like. Just PM or email me with your full name and address if you want to do it then. After that, I'm booked almost till the end of May. My problem is I only have the two girls and I'm desperately trying to hatch me out some pullets to add to my Blue Orp layers, but it's slow going since I cant seem to hang onto my own eggs, LOL!
