Joining from within the city limits of San Antonio.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Not new. Just returning to where I left off but on a much smaller scale.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Two in a makeshift brooder in a spare bedroom
(3) What breeds do you have?
Beautiful spackled brown Silkies
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Watching them enjoy their freedom and being amazed by their hierarchy.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Cooking, kitchen gadgets, and serving others where needed and wanted.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a 9 year retired respiratory therapist. I have raised two grands for the past 4 years since they were 1 and 2 years old. Since they can independently think and express themselves with ease, it's time for me and the chickens, again.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've received plenty of helpful info from my past raising chickens as a newby. I joined due to Covid isolation. I have the time to post, and read all this informative info. I'm so glad there is an online community of this size to gain healthy/helpful ideas and perspectives.
