This is our first time in our homemade Bator. We are doing a small hatch with 16 eggs to see how it will all work out. I have a Brown leghorn rooster and RIR hens. Don't know what they will look like, but I bet they will look a lot like chickens. Wish me luck.

Good Luck to you, I am on my 2nd hatch, my first didnt go too well. My best advice to you is to take all you read on here and go woth your instincts. I have learned a lot from this message board. My batch will go into lockdown on the 21st. One thing I have learned is to not open the bator. I bought a small aquarium hose that I have stuckk through the incubator on the top and add water with a medicine syringe. My temps seem to be more stable this time and I will be able to add water in lockdown without opening.

Well, I candle 2 of the eggs today just to see what was going on and I could see the black spot. So far so good!:

RIR x White Leghorn will come out white with black spots. I was told that's what *anything* that's half white Leghorn will look like.

I have a RIR roo over WLeghorn hens and they came out mostly yellow (white) with black spots.
