Yeah, this is really great. We have our first hen in an eglu. We're doing extensive research on coop/run building for the spring. Do you have any plans for your building that you are able to share? Pictures of the inside will be great!!

I didn't use any plans except I wanted to use full sheets of plywood and 2x4's with the least amount of waste and cutting. That was about the only plan I went in with. I built the base, then built the walls laying down on the base and lifted each one in place after the four walls were built. It really was quiet easy.

Here are some inside pictures. I'll take more once I get the inside finished.

I'm just a few miles South of Fredericksburg. It is a great area for riding. IT IS one of the main reason I moved here from Pennsylvania along with the hope of making life just a bit simpler. I succeded in both!

Smitty's Farm :

Vey cute coop! You did a great job! What kind of breeds will be moving in?

Thanks for the "great job". We're getting some Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rocks, White Plymouth Rocks and some Barred Rocks. Just a few of each.

LOL not usually. It was around 70 degrees over the weekend so Winter isn't too bad. We did have a few nights when we saw it down in the teens but by 10 AM it is usually well above freezing. I might insulate the roof just to try and keep the Summer heat out, that is the challenge here. My last coop I painted the roof white and it did an incredible job of keeping the coop very cool. On this one I shingled the roof, I hope I don't regret it...LOL
