Ok got an update. Both are eating better. I think one is finally pooping. He was smelly when I picked him up tonight. He was also sitting in his feed dish eating something. The other one that was near death friday has also perked, and has started eating hay on his own. The cecetrope method seems to work! Might want to pass that onto your friends that are still having trouble with it gypsy.

Ive just been giving them one or two a day, with pro bios, and apple cider vinegar in the water(about a tsp to a gallon). The second hasn't pooped yet. I think I saw him trying tonight.

I definitely will pass the information along.
I will say this has been one long row to hoe these past 2 years.

I agree that if its viral or feed related someone needs to get to the bottom of it,
It needs to be stopped and if it needs researching and a lot more time and effort so be it. Someone has to step up and figure this out and soon, way to many top quality rabbits are dying for what appears to be no apparent reason.
Its frustrating, heartbreaking and costly.
I think those affected have tried just about everything in their power to save these animals, some with success some not so successful.
Did you try the Vit B in the water?

I have one down right now and not sure what the problem is,
not eating, not drinking, laying in here in the cage with hardly any energy to pick his head up.
This is NOT something I recommend for everyone to do :
I have soaked lettuce in water to absorb as much fluids as possible and hand feeding every hour on the hour, he is eating the lettuce for now but as soon as my vet opens I will be calling for Sub Q fluids, I have all the other equipment needed
The theory is the lettuce soaked in water will rehydrate until such time a vet can be sought out.
I have done this many times in the past, seems most rabbits get this sick at night when little help is available.
I am also syringing water laced with Vit B for the boost in the immune system in hopes that it might help, but I fear this big guy may be a little to down to bring back up but time will tell.
Not sure what kicked this off as last night he was fine and boinking around his cage like a normal rabbit.
While rasing rabbits is usualy a rewarding past time, when they get sick its a nightmare at a costly expense.

Yeah I tried vitamins in the water. They didn't work.

Got acid pak coming in two days. that stuff is awesome. It should help them out a lot.

We feed Showrite Premium Rabbit manufactured by Hubbard feeds. It has NO corn in it and we have had good success feeding a variety of rabbit breeds ranging from Dwarf Hotots to Silver Foxes.

I have tried showrite. My rabbits didn't like it. Plus it was very expensive for the price of a small bag of it.​

well, hang in there. I have never had problems with enteritis except once when a buck got too much green grass, he died within a day. What does acid pac do?

Oh another Silver Fox Breeder!! Yeah, there are so few of us.Though we are getting stronger and stronger.The breed is in less danger of being lost forever now.

Unfortunately the best of the best grain is only as good as the Mill that runs it. If the mill doesnt clean properly then corn and other products do get into the grain. I have gotten bags of grain with what looks like clumps of spider webs in it,( turned out to be grain and dust finds all clumped to gether with the help of grain bugs).
Bags 1 - 3 were contaminated bags 4 through 10 were not. Called the Company sent in a sample of the issue and was re embursed for the 3 bags and given a cupon for 3 more bags.
This is a great way to contaminate feed products.
Most Companies will listen to the consumer, we are their first line of defense. if something goes wrong Most want to know about it, unfortunately there are a few who wont listen, claiming it isnt their fault its an owners husnandry.​

Acid pak works kind of like a probiotic. Only its not a paste. You mix it into their water. Its alos very inexpensive. The rabbits have loved it every time I have used. It just gets expensive buying the packages all the time. most cage show vendors carry. i don't know why its not marketed in places like tractor supply. It is some good stuff.
