This is my first try at doing pitures, so we'll see how it goes.
The first 3 I have guesses on breed not th gender.

#1 this is my evil roo, he's very mean but very pretty. My guesses are Asil or dark cornish. I got him at a feed store in march. It was a assorted chick bin you know that that means!

#2 This is a chick I got for free from the guy I got all my other chickens at. When she was a baby she was grey/yellow. He didn't know what she was. My guess is she's a white rock. She's the sweetest thing though.

#3 This girl I got in a trade from a friend at 3 weeks old. He had just resently got them from someone else. He told me that this girl and one other chicken I got are Black austerlorp/ RIR mixes. I don't see how this chicken has RIR in her. The other one that turned out to be a roo

does look like a BA/RIR.

Now, I have 2 silkies that I think are roosters. I payed too much for them, and was told a pair. Doesn't that make you think a male and a female? These guys are supposed to be around 5-6 months old. I don't really know much about the breed so I'm hoping I'm wrong;) here they are:

The white one is an araucana, or americana. See the cheek feathers, and the green legs? The others, I'm not so sure.

1st one looks like a Dark Cornish roo, 2nd I'm not sure, maybe a mix of a couple things? 3rd one is an EE, and both of your silkies look like males.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I considered that my white one may be a ameraucana, or an EE.
I figured my silikes were male, I was just hoping they weren't, lol wishful thinking doesn't always help.

What about number 3 being a buff brahma mix? She doesn't have feather legs though.
Anyone else got some guesses??

Oh, and since I'm asking all these questions,
wink.png
can you guys be brutally honest and tell me if these silkies are good examples of the breed? Like... are they wacky looking? Lol for lack of a better word...

Sad part on the silkies is that you DID get a pair... of roos. A breeding pair would imply one male, one female, but still... any chance you can swap one roo for a hen from the guy? I would do that for my customers if they wound up with two roos...

I don't think he' a shamo because he doesn't have that long of a neck and he doesn't stand up that sraight.
I guess I should have mentioned, The pic for my avatar is him and his buddy when they were chicks. He's the one in the back. The black shamo chick is black with white, and thats not consistant to what he was as a chick. The tuzo is said to be a bantam, and he's the biggest chicken I have.
Thats why I've had a hard time ID-ing him cause soo many breeds seem to look like him.

miss AK birdbrain,
The guy I got them from was a guy that goes to auctions and and resells them, they were the only ones he had, and he doesn't really like silkies either. I think I would just have to try and sell them or trade them....I already have too many roos, 5 to be exact, and these two would be 7...lol I only have 20 females or so! It's my falt anyways, i bought them when I didn't know anything about chickens and I wanted silkies....silly me.
